Bite Size Science: a quick analysis of ‘real fruit’ products
You can find “made with real fruit” written on all kinds of food, from cereal to yogurt to juice and more. That’s not a lie, but the amount of real fruit in your favorite on-the-go snack might surprise you.
If a food label says something is “made with real fruit”, that can mean an amount as small as just ONE blueberry. There is no FDA regulation on how much real fruit has to be used for companies to make claims like these. So these other companies aren’t lying to you, they just might be exaggerating how real or good for you their food is.
And you know what else isn’t cool? All the stuff people put in their food alongside all that “real fruit”. You can label a product as being made with real fruit and still have it be full of synthetic coloring, artificial flavors, preservatives, and/or added sugars.
❌ That’s not how we do things. We don’t want to play games with you. ❌
At Journey Foods, when we say our Journey Bites are made with real fruit, we actually mean we use a ton of real fruit. No tricks. And there’s no artificial flavors, preservatives, or added sugar either.
